Is there a public-domain disk editing and salvaging program floating? I seem to remember one called DiskSalv or something on a Fish disk. I just lost about 6 hours of work. Somehow, the root block got trashed, and now the disk has "AmigaLibDisk9" as its volume name! Also, only the last file I modified is on the disk, and my machine crashes when I try "info". Any ideas? It might be the XMODEM program I was using.

Well, I wrote DiskSalv, which is an automatic disk recovery program; it doesn't do any editing or writing of any kind on the trashed disk. I haven't seen it yet on a Fish Disk, though I did post the Lattice C source here months ago and its available on CIS and probably many other BBS systems. It requires 2 drives. E-Mail me if you can't find it; if there's enough desire I'll post the object code in uuencoded form or something. -- /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\ Dave Haynie {caip,ihnp4,allegra,seismo}!cbmvax!daveh "I don't feel safe in this world no more, I don't want to die in a nuclear war, I want to sail away to a distant shore And live like an ape man." -The Kinks These opinions are my own, though for a small fee they be yours too. \/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/
