Does anyone know if MicroBotics is shipping there 2Meg ram cards and 20 Meg disk drives? Also, does anyone know the prices on these? If you have seen or beta-tested one of these, I'd be interested in your impressions of the product. Thanks. Bill Hansen !tektronix!tekig5!tekig4

What their doing is getting the parallel port to act as a SCSI port. It looked reasonably fast but too pricey.... They told us that they would be shipping in a week and a half (that makes it sometime this week). Their 2-Meg RAM cards should start shipping 6-weeks from then. Sorry, I don't remember the price for it although it's s'pose to have a real-time clock on it plus some other little goodies. If you're interested, contact Michael C. About Microbotics: I called, and got a real friendly, reasonable person who seemed to know his stuff. He told me the 20M drive was $1495.00, and was as fast, or faster than anything else out there. That price doesn't seem too bad to me. Also, it passes the parallel port out, and has another port for anything else that uses SCSI. He told me that their memory board with 512K memory, and sockets for another 512K was $495.00 and that a piggy back board with just sockets for 1 or 2 MEG was $99.95 (Thought he said it was a 2MEG board, but then he said it would give you a total of 2MEG aditional?) They also have a separate board with a clock, and circitry to do parity checking on their ram board with an aditional 256k chip per bank of ram. Didn't get the price on that one. He claimed that the board had no wait states, and passed the buss. I too would love to hear a review of this product. By the way, it was Commodore who gave me their phone number. DISCLAIMER: I have no connectioin with this company, but will probably buy their product when I get a bit more money. David Farmer
