[net.sf-lovers] An alternative to sf-lovers?

chuq@sun.uucp (Chuq Von Rospach) (10/28/85)

I've unfortunately found that the volume level of sf-l has finally started
getting to me (symptom is rabid killing of articles unseen and unread and
ultimately uncared for). Because I happen to find the net community to be
one of the more lucid and intelligent groups out there, I find this a bit
worrisome because I don't like the idea of missing all those good thoughts.

This has brought back an idea I was playing with a couple of years ago. An
electronic fanzine. I've considered it on and off, and I think there is a
possibility that an electronic fanzine could work hand in hand with
sf-lovers (definitely not instead of it) with the emphasis being fewer but
longer and more in depth articles on various subjects -- giving everyone a
place to be able to do some real criticism in a controlled and supportive
environment, away from the crowds the mumble at anything over 27 lines,
regardless of content.

Is there any interest out there for something like this? If there is,
perhaps I'll try to set it up on an experimental basis and see how it
works. Whatcha think, folks?
