Well, I finally got my hands on DBW's VT100 R2.0 and have been munging it to allow specification of parity and word size (among other things). I set even parity and 7-bit words and began chugging--what do I see?--NOTHING, that's what. Y'wanna know why? Because parity on output data must be supplied by the user, that's why! In my naivete I just *assumed* (and we all know what that makes out of u and me) that the serial driver would supply proper parity. Well, IT DOESN'T--never did and (apparently) never will (that's just frustration on my part--I'm *not* using 1.2 Beta anything, just plain ole 1.1). After 4 of my precious evenings going down the drain and the loss of a perfectly good holiday weekend (one of the few that I see in a year [I *hate* not knowing what's going wrong!]) I finally came up with the answer--at 2330 on Monday night! Did I look in the RKM, you ask? Of *course*...and did it ever say *anything* about parity, you ask? Of course *not*, except to say that you set this bit this way and that bit that way. Looked in the autodocs (I guess that's what they're called--RKM Vol II), too. Does anyone else think that this is a CROCK? BTW, I'll be sending my mods to DBW (unless I hear otherwise) once things are "perfect". (Aside to Jim M. at C-A: I hope you haven't answered the questions that I sent you several months ago cause I haven't received 'em--no, I haven't forgotten.) -- Tony Sumrall ...!{ihnp4,hplabs,seismo,sun}!amdahl!acs [ Opinions expressed herein are the author's and should not be construed to reflect the views of Amdahl Corp. ]
