Sorry for these stupid questions but without having any AmigaDos manuals yet, I need help. Is there a command to tell me what type a given file is? I'd like to find out what all the mystery files are that come with the system, but I keep stumbling across binaries and trashing my CLI window. Is there a way to kill the current process, eg. when I just TYPEd some huge binary file? Can I use the workbench:s/startup-sequence file to automatically open things upon booting, like say a CLI window? Thanks, Charles Poirier

Hi everyone. I need some help with a parallel problem. Actually, I don't need to do this anymore, but it would be nice to know what I should have done. I wanted to transfer some files from my old computer to the Amiga by way of the parallel port [don't ask why]. It didn't work, in fact the Amiga more or less refused to grant an ACK. By bringing down ACK, I was able to get something across, but of course most of the characters where dropped. I tried playing around with the cable some more with varying degrees of success, but none usable. Any ideas? Thanks. By the way, I think Brattacus is terrible. -Dan
