[net.micro.amiga] 8520 society contacted. No dice! Help?

d@alice.UucP (Daniel Rosenberg) (09/25/86)

Shoot!

I got my 8520 in the mail today, after only a few short weeks, where I
was able to keep myself incredibly patient because I wasn't all that
enthusiastic about being able to use my Amiga at all... :-)

So anyway. I lifts up the hood, takes off that dang metal shield, makes
sure I'm popping out the correct chip (the 8520 in location U6P, which
controlls the parallel port and internal drive, am I correct?) and spent
a long time carefully getting that bugger out. And it came out, without
any other internal damage (but it *was* a challenge!)

I pop the new 8520 in. I was so happy, I plugged everything in, that screen
lit up, said "Yo! Kickstart" and I popped in a copy of Kickstart, and, as
if you can't tell already, it said,

"Yo! Kickstart."

I gave it about three other Kickstarts.

"Yo! Kickstart!"
"tratskciK" (imagine that's upside down)
"Kickstart!, pluhhhhhh-eeze!"

Hmmm, I thought. I then banged my head against the wall for a few hours,
afraid to try replacing the other 8520... an', an' I don't know what to
do. So I came to you for help.

(Start recording.)
Any suggestions?
Thanks a lot! I could use 'em all, except for that guy at usl.UUCP who posted
a message to the effect that since I couldn't repair it myself I deserved
what I was getting.
Really! I'm just *dying* for an answer!

Thank you for your support.
