[net.micro.amiga] Lattice V3.03 bug

dillon@CORY.BERKELEY.EDU (Matt Dillon) (08/24/86)

I've found that some source modules cause Lattice V3.03 (the one
I got with my developer's kit) to crash my amiga when running 1.2Beta 2 or 4.
Compiling the same module (Pass 1 is the one that dies) works A.O.K when I
use the old V1.1 OS.

I have not yet been able to isolate where in the .C file it's been
crashing.

I am a new Amiga user, but I just bought Amiga (Lattice) 'C' and it is labeled
V1.1, what is V3.03?????

3.03 is the Compiler's version number. This number is displayed
when you compile. 1.1 is the Amiga operating system version number
and applies more to the version of Amiga.lib and include files
on the disk.

By substituting 1.2 include files and 1.2 Amiga.lib, the 3.03
compiler can be used to compile programs which use new 1.2 functions,
features, etc.

By the way - a new native version of Alink will handle overlays.

But will it be any faster and, perhaps, not gobble so much memory?

Not really. It is faster (the FASTER option is now the default).
Unfortunately, FASTER also means larger (more memory grabbed).
A new option is SMALL (i.e. NOT FASTER).

It doesn't make much sense to even support Alink any more with Blink out.
Maybe Lattice should liscense some of the code or just plain junk Alink,
cut the cost, and throw in Blink - or maybe both but why would anybody
need the current Alink with Blink out?

Me, I use Manx.
