Do either of these programs > play a challenging game? We have not previously heard of either. I am not a big chess player, but I will ocassionally play a game on my Amiga. I am using Chessmaster 2000. Its a full-featured implementation -- fast, with timers, 2-D or 3-D board, various setup options, game storage, etc. They even went to the trouble of adding a "special" feature -- you can quickly display a dummy spreadsheet screen on your terminal, just in case you need to fool the wife into thinking that you aren't really ignoring her for a game of chess!

O )VVVVV( O Well, I have Chessmaster 2000, and I can't beat it. (not that I'm any sort of a chess champ, or anything) I cannot compare to other chess programs, but 2000 seems to be pretty complete as far as features go: - 2d & 3d display of board - board can be rotated 90 degrees (or 180, 270) - the colours of both the pieces and the squares can be altered to suit your taste - uP opponent can talk (male Amiga voice), this feature can be changed to a tone, or disabled. - you can take back moves (I especially like this one) - you can have the uP figure out your next move for you - it will play itself; white gets a female voice and always wins. I have watched two such games and the play was *not* the same both times, some random element must be in use. This is not meant to be a full review, just a brief desription of the features I have explored to date. There are many others. The only things I don't like about this program are a) copy protection, and b) it doesn't multitask. Otherwise, GREAT! My humble opinions, and mine alone, sjk ...utzoo!dciem!king ps. I am not a fiction author.
