I've recieved several letters about my review (posted about a week ago) concerning the new Milton Bradley games (Axis & Allies, Conquest of the Empire). The writers appreciated the review but wanted to know how long it took to play Axis & Allies. It takes about 2-4 hours to play a game of Axis & Allies. Usually the game will go until the Axis side mets it's victory conditions or until it looks like the Axis side is going to lose -- it is hard for the Axis to come back after they are losing, unlike the Allies who can come back fighting after several defeats. Around here (Purdue), because we are now experienced with A&A, our games usually last about 2 1/2 hours. Conquest of the Empire also takes about 2-4 hours to play. It was pointed out to me that I had the price of the MB games wrong. They should cost between $25-$30, not the $35-$40 I orginally stated. To clarify a point: Axis & Allies is a 5 player game with 2 sides -- your side wins or it doesn't. Conquest of the Empire is a 5 player game with 5 sides -- you personally win or you don't. To re-emphasize a point: If you have 4 other people you play with and like "Risk" level games (as opposed to the more complex simulation games like PanzerBlitz or Squad Leader), I recommend both A&A and Conquest as good games.
