Bay Area Siggraph Technical Interest Group on
                     Scientific Visualization

Second Meeting Thurs, June 8, 1989
Silicon Graphics 7 PM
2011 Stierlin Road
Mountain View
Cafeteria, Bldg 1.

This is the second meeting. Attendees to the first were asked to
bring a contribution, either a short written statement of their
interests, needs, or perhaps a sample of work. This request is
continued for the second meeting for new attendees or those who
brought nothing to the first meeting.

Tentative Agenda:

        1. Further presentations of work and methods by
        participants.

        2. Soap box. Anyone who wants can have the floor for a
nominal time period to sound off or philosphize. This is
where we can debate the wisdom of using the word
"visualization" in the name of this group, or offer our
specific criticism of the report of the NSF panel.

        3. Definition of Objective. Our major business
objective for the evening is to define the objectives of
this interest group. They may be simple and general,
such as simply to meet periodically to hear a speaker and
exchange ideas; or they may be more focussed and formal,
such producing some document, specification, standard, or
manifesto. The coordinator would be happy to finish the
evening with some consensus understanding of what we are
        about.

        4. Planning the next meeting. One site and possible
        program has been offered.

Anyone wanting a spot on the agenda, or having suggestions on
what this meeting should accomplish, is urged to communicate with
the coordinator, Ron Levine, 415/342-2229, levine@well.uucp, or
levine@coyote.dec.com
