My group is about to develop a QBE-like front-end to Ingres.
Our objective is to allow users of non-Ingres hosts (and
non-Quel users on Ingres hosts) to build Quel queries by means
of a QBE interface. Ideally all types of queries, including
aggregate functions and arbitrary joins, would be supported.
Before we get too carried away with the project, we want to
find any available implementations of QBE. Barring that,
any windowing/screen management tools would be very helpful.
We have the curses package for low-level screen management,
but would like a higher level package. The kinds of things
we are looking for are
- pop-up or pull-down menus
- formatted forms (i.e. forms with attributed fields)
- windows
- virtual screens
I'm easy. Source would be wonderful, but a subroutine package or
even just documentation or pointers to journal articles would
help.
