[net.database] UNIFY problem

strong@milano.UUCP (01/18/86)

Since I've noticed several references to UNIFY lately in
this newsgroup, I will venture to ask the other UNIFY
	users listening the following:

Have any of you ever implemented the trite (:-)) little
automatic numbering routine given as an example in the
UNIFY manuals only to discover that each number generated
takes a few millennia to appear? Even when I've tried to
optomize it a tad, it is unexplicably slow. It is easy
enough to get evidence that it is going through many more
iterations than it should but without source it is difficult
to understand why. This has probably been kicked around
before because it is so consistently a problem across different
	systems.

I've experience a myriad of other bugs and anomolies in UNIFY
that I deeply desire to share with others. Use mail to respond.
If there is a mailing list of UNIFY users, I would like to get
	it and be on it.

	Regards, -- Mike Strong
