Since I have received only 4 responses to the following posting re- PC-based dbms survey, I am reposting it. I still plan to post the summary on 26 FEB. If you wish to be anonimous, please indicate as such, & I will hide your identity. I have also added a few more items on the querry list; they are marked "*". So here we go again: I am soliciting your experiences & opinions on various database management systems on IBM PC (PC/XT/AT) or MAC. .Usability .Ease of use .Batch or Interactive? .Use of graphics: color/black? Resolution? .Quality & Quality control .Support .Maturity of the product .Cost .Type of Application .Hardwares it supports, i.e., does it run both on PC & Mac or any other machines? I am more interested in the user interface issues here than the actual implementation. .Address of the vendor .Performance (speed) .Hardware Requirements: memory, disk, etc. *Max. databases it can handle. *Procedural language interface. *Querry language interface. *Interface to the existing databases, especially to the main frames & minis. Is it truly interfaced or is it done via translation? I will collect all data for 3 weeks, and post the summary on 2/26. Vendors' responses are welcome, but please restrain from commercials. Kyu Y.
