[net.database] Distributed Databases

I am looking for information about available Distributed Database Systems
capable of running on a network composed of heterogeneous computers.  If
anybody knows of such systems please send me whatever information or
experience you have. If there is interest I will post a summary of responses

Has anybody out there had experience of Distributed Database Management Systems?Can anybody suggest a good DDBMS ? or know where we can get POREL?
