I just purchased The Rolling Stones Hot Rocks 1964-1971 CD (2 disks), abkco 66672, 2 CD 606/7. I have several copies of the album, also by abkco (they keep wearing out - the album gets considerable play), and when I played the CD I noticed that the songs have been remixed (which is quite fair and one expects this of old albums), but more importantly I noticed that at least one song (Time is on my side) is actually different (intro, finale, Jaggers's phrasing at the beginning of Ti-i-i-ime is Ti-ime, etc.). The question of which version I prefer is irrelevant, what I am wondering is did I get an illegal (bootleg) copy, if such things exist yet for CDs, or where did this version come from and what gives? Also, I noticed an import from Germany (I think) that was about twice the price as the abkco version. Anyone know about this? Thanks in advance, Russ Miller csnet: miller@buffalo
