The PC6300 PLUS UNIX STREAMING CARTRIDGE TAPE UNIT software is an optionally installable software system that greatly enhances the usefulness of a PC6300 PLUS and Tape Expansion Unit With the UNIX STREAMING CARTRIDGE TAPE UNIT system, the time consuming task of backing up files will be eliminated forever. A user need only indicate the time when a backup must occur and the system will perform it automatically, day or night, without further intervention! Easy-to-use menus help the user select the time of the day and the day of the week. Moreover, the system may be placed on "automatic pilot" so that backups can take place on schedule every day or every week. Other menu options permit the user to choose either a complete backup, a partial backup, or a backup of only those files owned by a particular user. The system also maintains a permanent record of all backup activity. The PC6300 PLUS UNIX STREAMING CARTRIDGE TAPE UNIT software requires the user to have a PC6300 PLUS configured with either the AT&T PC6300/PLUS 60MB Tape Expansion Unit or the 60MB/20MB Tape/Hard Disk Expansion Unit and the UNIX Operating System. The system will backup both UNIX files and MS-DOS files created under Simul-Task. The UNIX STREAMING CARTRIDGE TAPE UNIT software and an INSTALLATION AND OPERATIONS GUIDE will be available at no extra charge for existing customers of the PC6300/PLUS 60MB Tape Expansion Unit and 60MB/20MB Tape/Hard Disk Expansion Unit. Orders for these products received on or after December 22nd will include both the UNIX STREAMING CARTRIDGE TAPE UNIT software and its documentation. Effective December 22nd, 1986, the UNIX STREAMING CARTRIDGE TAPE UNIT software will be incorporated into the AT&T PC6300/PLUS 60MB Tape Expansion Unit and the 60MB/20MB Tape/Hard Disk Expansion Unit, Price Element Codes 37570 and 37571, respectively. The list price for 37570 shall remain at $2295 and the list price of 37571 shall remain at $3495.
