Article: 12:2 Since there seems to be no activity at the moment, I thought that I might try filling the vacuum. A local gun store (Big Horn, in San Jose) has a rather large collection of hunting/shooting instructional tapes for rent. Among the hunting and fishing films was a copy of Deadly Weapons. I had heard about DW from a friend of mine (in NV) that is into full auto and other exotic stuff. He highly recommended it. Micro review - Deadly Weapons basically is chronicle of tests using (almost) every type of ammo and a wide variety of guns. The first set of tests pit hapless 3/4" pine boards (with 1 gallon water jugs behind them) against every type of ammo from .22 to .44 Magnum. In each size (if available) they test lead, jacketted, jacketed hollow point, Teflon, and Glasser safety bullets. The results were somewhat predictable with winner being the Glasser slugs. (The bullet went in and never came out!) Some of the tests involved checking-out various myths like "A .357 Magnum will go right through an engine block", or "shooting a gas tank will make it explode", or "silencers go click". . . Other topics covered include bullet-proof vests, full auto, shotgun range limits, the deflection of bullets through brush, the deflection of bullets through glass, and ultra-big bore. Anyway, the tape is anything but dry. The more exotic the weapon, the more amusing the commentary. I have been told that the FBI and Treasury Dept now use this film in their training courses. Gary-Joe-Bob says "check it out". Gary (hplabs,allegra,ihnp4)oliveb!olivee!gnome
