My Colt Gold Cup had a 10% - 20% failure to feed rate out of the box and
the rear sight was mounted at about a 5 - 10 degree angle from horizontal.
I sent it back and they fixed both problems, but scarred the slide while
fixing the sight.  Buy expensive and you can still get cheap.

Which reminds me of the time I bought a new Combat Commander.
I took it out to the range.  The cases ejected directly into
my face from a regular 2-handed stance.  (It pays to wear
shooting glasses.)

After the first magazine was empty, I pressed the slide stop to
release the slide and cut my thumb on its sharp edge.
I replaced the ejector and filed down the edges on the
slide stop to solve the problems.  Nothing like Colt 
quality......
