Article: 7:7 I had promised a product review of the BMF Activator some weeks back. I finally made it out to the shooting range and gave it a try. First, the BMF Activator is essentially a cam connected to a handle, designed to attach to the trigger guard of your favorite rifle. By turning the handle, you can operate the trigger of your rifle at speeds exceeding 1200 rpm. In theory, this should give you the advantages of full auto fire without the legal problems. The BMF Activator even comes with a copy of the letter from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, telling you that the Activator is legal, as long as you don't attach an electric motor or spring mechanism to make it cycle without human intervention. :-) In fact, the Activator is useless on my AR-15, since the act of turning the handle moves the rifle to the right, even if using a bipod, and the recoil of the rifle makes control very difficult. (Remember, your right hand is busy turning the crank -- it's not available to steady the gun.) Perhaps on a very solid mount, the Activator might work well, or on a .22LR rifle with less recoil, but as a replacement for an M16, this combination leaves a lot to be desired. Clayton E. Cramer
