Article: 9:7 Has anyone actually shot the Hungarian copy of the Browning 9mm HP pistol? The gun is imported by Kassnar of Pittsburg, PA. It LOOKS identical to the current Belgium Browning, except that it has wooden grips, a larger slide stop thumb rest and some indentation on the bottom of the frontstrap. (I presume that this indentation is for use with a detachable stock.) The fit and finish inside and out APPEAR to be of equal quality. It comes with a government proof certificate, a spare magazine and cleaning rod. As a long-time Browning HP owner, the Hungarian copy looks and feels like the real thing, but does it shoot like the real thing? The reason that I am asking about it is due to its price: $200 retail at Edelman's in NY, NJ and PA. The Belgium gun is selling for $420. Since I can't perform hardness tests and steel analysis, it's hard to say how well this gun will perform over a lifetime of use. If the steel is good, then this pistol may be the bargain of the decade! We haven't had good, reasonably-priced handguns since 1968. Send mail! Jon Kaplowitz ihnp4!erc3ba!jfka
