Does anyone subscribing to this group have any technical data on a
product marketed by Remington called "Rem Oil"? I had read a few
articles in various gun magazines about new Remington products wherein
they mentioned this product. I bought some the other day and was very
surprised to find that it has about the same viscosity as water! I
know it has TEFLON in it, although it is not visible like the TEFLON
particles in BREAK-FREE lubricant. I also seem to recall that one of
the articles I read mentioned something about it being a "synthetic"
oil.

>From what I can tell, "Rem Oil" does indeed seem to be a pretty good
lubricant. I'm just curious what "high tech" goodies are in this stuff.

RE: Remington oil (really Breakfree)

I can't say what's in Remington oil, but I can say that
Breakfree has been accepted by the DoD for use
in small arms. TEFLON does work. The reduction
in friction actually increases the cyclitic rate
of M60 machine guns.
