[net.misc.coke] Sugar Lobby Fights Back

Did anyone else notice the full-page ad in the New York Times from the Sugar
Association in regard to the Sugar vs. HFCS debate. It seems that they are
looking for support from the New Coke controversy to bring back 100% sugar in
sodas.

No, I didn't see the ad, but Newsweek mentioned the ad in their recent
cover story on sugar addiction. Newsweek reports that the sugar industry
is trying to create a "snob appeal" for sugar -- that "finer" products
will contain 100% sugar, and as a result, you will seek these products.

Why don't we all get together, and start a comany that buys
the old coke syrup from the Coca-Cola company, and take real
suger and bottle or own coke and sell it under the name
``Old Coke''. And we can put in in 6, 10, 16 oz. bottles, whatever
we like, and we can put it in the cans with pull rings, hell as long
as we're at at it, we can put it in the old tin cans with the lead
solder seam.

Apparently the pull tabs can be used in the middle of the country,
but not on the coasts, because people throw them into the
ocean and crabs eat them or something silly like that.
