Via WA2RKN: 2327 From WB2KMY Rcvd 850926/2039, Sent 850927/0627
The following information comes from Ed Stephenson AB4S (via IBM VNET):

On October 7 and 8, The Earth will pass through the orbit of comet
Giacobini-Zinner, Jock-o-Benny Ziner, only 25 days after the comet
has passed. Experts have estimated this might produce 6,000 to
10,000 meteors per hour. The Persieds meteor shower that occurs
annually produces about 40 to 60 meteors per hour.

With the advent of packet radio, we have an excellent opportunity to
collect data on the effect of meteor showers on VHF communications.
It is suggested that from 0500Z to 2100Z on October 8, evening of
October 7 local time, packet stations use 145.090 MHz. Set your beacons
for about every 10 seconds and only send the two characters of your state.
Then monitor and capture all incoming beacons.

Notes de WB2KMY.....
Why not also include an ARRL Grid Square in addition to the state.
FN31 NY gives a more accurate location.
