Does anyone know if some movie producer plans to translate the Lensman series (by Doc Smith) into a series of motion pictures? Or if Marvel or DC plan to render it in comic form? I think it may be a nice thing to see. Very Truly Yours, Andrew Jonathan Fine

I think it may be a nice thing to see. In a way, DC _has_ been rendering it in comic form in the guise of Green Lantern. The Oans are "Grardians of the Universe (as the Arisians were), one Green Lantern is named "Arisia"; another, "Eddore," if there was any doubt. I'm waiting for the chief protagonist to get a new girlfriend with reddish-bronze hair and gold-flecked tawny eyes. Probably with a family name of Samms. However: I don't think that a motion picture version of the Lensman books would be such a good idea. The visual hallucinations of the Overlords of Delgon couldn't be done with justice. The mental battles between the Eich and Eukinodor, the L2 and L3 work, and so forth would be lost. Even in comic form [a Classic Comic? :-)], much would be lost. The better Doc Smith series would be the Skylark series. And it has such a fascinating villain! Steve Kallis, Jr.
