I received several mail messages asking me to post my quickie blit-like environment for the UNIX PC. This is the first of several installments I am posting in response to those requests. Subsequent installments will be posted to net.micro.att ONLY. The design goal was to provide two of my favorite blit environments, one window and two-window with minimal waste of screen space, on the AT&T UNIX PC. The quickie environment had to be available without the ua, since I like things to be reasonably fast; and also under the ua, for occasions such as system administration chores, when I do use the ua. The quickie environment is composed of a makefile, four C programs, and modifications to standard $HOME/Environment and $HOME/.kshrc. I am posting it not as a "product" but as an example of how one can hack a customized personal UNIX environment on the UNIX PC. Please feel free to make use of techniques shown in the following examples to hack your own environment to suit your own preferences and ways of work. Adam V. Reed ihnp4!npois!adam
