[net.micro.att] Don't use $HOME/.history for ksh on the UNIX PC

adam@npois.UUCP (Adam V. Reed) (05/31/85)

I remember saying in an earlier posting to this newsgroup that ksh ports
readily to the UNIX PC. Barry Weiss brought to my attention the fact
that $HOME/.history, the usual path for the ksh history file, is used by
the UNIX pc ua telephone manager. When it is also used by ksh, the two
interact with unpleasant results. So it is a good idea to use your
.profile to export HISTFILE and set it to some other path, such
as $HOME/.histfile or $HOME/.kshhistory, if you intend to use both ksh
and the ua telephone manager.
