Motorola Mc68020 Language set

Silicon	Valley Software	(SVS) has integrated its Native	Mode
Language Set with the Motorola MC68020 microprocessor family.
Motorola provided early	versions of the	MC68020	chip set,
including the MC68881 floating point co-processor, built into a
full 32	bit prototype system running a demonstration version of
the System V UNIX operating system ported by UniSoft, and SVS
ported its Languages to	this environment.

The Motorola demonstration system ran at 12 1/2	MHz, had a 32 bit
wide memory bus	and an average of 3 wait states	and yielded
760,000	Whetstones in a	test run using the SVS FORTRAN.	Scaling
to the new 16 MHz parts, not available at the time of the tests,
indicates that the MC68020 chip	set using the SVS Languages will
yield results of approximately 1,000,000 Whetstones. At	the same
time, the software/hardware combination	fully supports IEEE
standard Floating Point	compatibility.

The SVS	Language Set consists of:

SVS FORTRAN, a full ANSI standard,	GSA Certifiable	product
with significant language extensions. Includes	the SVS	Symbolic
Debugger;

SVS Pascal, a full	ANSI Standard package containing IEEE
Floating Point - Single	and Double Precision, with most	UCSD
extensions.  Includes the SVS Symbolic Debugger;

SVS BASIC-PLUS, a DEC dialect BASIC with Integer, String,
and IEEE Double	Precision Variables, Vector and	Matrix
Arithmetic, String Arithmetic, Extended	I/O - including	GET, PUT,
Multi-line Functions, Renumber,	Trace and Chain	Commands.

SVS "C", a	version	of the Common "C" dialect as defined by
Kernighan and Ritchie with extensions making it	useful for
applications development and rehosting programs	for improved
efficiency. Contains IEEE Floating Point - Double Precision with
Single Precision option. Includes the SVS Symbolic Debugger.

The basic technology makes use of the Glanville/Graham code
generation techniques.

The SVS	Language Set for Motorola MC68020 based	microcomputers is
available now in UNIX environments and can be ported to	run under
most operating environments including UNIX tm (all versions),
XENIX tm, UniPlus+ tm, UNOS tm,	CROMIX tm, Regulus tm, other UNIX
lookalikes, as well as operating systems such as CP/M68K tm.

It's used to sharpen tongues, prior to an attack on someone else's
compiler.
