[net.micro.att] PC/MS-DOS on Unix PC

don@petsd.UUCP (Don Hopkins) (07/24/85)

Does anyone know if the capability exists that lets you run
PC/MS-DOS software on the Unix PC? Are there any plans to
provide this capability?

Thanks,

There is nothing available (that I know of) that will let you do what you want,
and I know of no plans to provide it, but it would be a *REAL* pain to do. The
UNIX PC is a 68K-based machine, whereas PC/MS-DOS runs on Intel's 8086
processor family. The best you could hope for would be an interpreter, or
possibly an add-on `co-processor'. From both a user and developer standpoint,
I don't think either would be a useful answer.*

(including my management) opinions or facts.
