[net.micro.att] 3b2 arch. documentation and intruction

david@wisc-rsch.arpa (David Parter) (08/16/85)

hi there! a while back, someone asked for, and eventually found,
machine documentation on the 3b2. (Actually, i think he found
the documentation on the blit, but it was close enough )

This person said he needed it in order to teach machine language
programming using 3b2s. Well, we are considering the same thing
here, and need some help from the net:
	1) documentation on the instruction set
	2) a good macro-assembler, anyone? (If there is a need, a friend of mine
	   might write one).
	3) What do you think of the idea? How many students would you put
on a 3b2/300 or /400 at one time, running Sys V, using vi, but
	   all the programming in assembler?

	4) Ideas, comments, suggesstions, etc. PLEASE!

send mail, i will summarize to the net if people are interested.

thanks,

david

A new manual for the 3B2 will be available in mid-October. It is called "AT&T
3B2 and 3B5 Computer Assembly Language Programming Manual". It contains
information and examples on the WE 32100 instruction set, the IS25 asm lang.,
registers, etc. It is what everyone has been asking for. I don't have the
document number or official title yet, but it will be available TO EVERYONE
via the CIC 800 number (1-800-432-6600). Better late than never, right?
