I just got handed a UNIX PC to replace my dumb terminal. I am having loads of trouble trying to get it to operate as well as the dumb terminal used to. I have three problems with the terminal emulator: 1) I need to generate ASCII NUL from the keyboard. The documentation says that control-shift-2 ought to do this. In my experience, though, what gets generated is \033f2. I've tried every key combo and no way have I been able to generate NUL. I need this to talk to a development system. 2) I am communicating through Sytek and the RS232 port. Sytek wants me to double up ESCape, and so does the 7300. This means I have to type FOUR! ESCapes to exit vi insert mode. Anyway to stop the 7300 from requiring the extraneous ESCapes? 3) I had been using the programmable function keys on my old terminal (a 5420) to do the verbose initialization commands required to use a development system. How can I program the 7300 function keys to spit user defined strings when in terminal emulation? 4) The caps lock key is where the control key belongs. Is there any way to remap the keyboard to put the caps lock key back where it belongs. I would be grateful if someone could provide solutions for any or all of the above problems. Otherwise, I'll just have to go back to using a regular dumb terminal. +------+ RS232 +--------+ RS232 +-----+ COAX +-----+ ME <--> |PC7300| <-----> |Dev.Sys.| <-----> |Sytek| <---> |3B-20| +------+ +--------+ +-----+ +-----+ Thanks, Rick Richardson, frenzy!rer, (201) 834-1378, HO 1C-514
