I recently purchased a UNIX PC and have some questions related
to the graphics field.
1) Is GSS the only graphics development package available?
2) I want to output graphics produced by GSS on a large hardcopy
device which connect to a minicomputer UNIX. The Virtual Device
Metafile seems a proper medium. Does anyone know there is a
metafile interpreter exist on other UNIX machine for the Virtual
Device Metafile?
3) I have tried to cu a metafile to another UNIX machine but fail in
the middle. I think it is because the metafile contains some binary
data. According to the manual, Virtual Device Metafile is a ANSI
standard metafile. Can somebody tell me what is a ANSI standard
metafile?
4) Does anyone know the format of the Virtual Device Metafile?
Thanks in advance.

You can find out about VDM from the ANSII standard. I
have one (a draft proposal) dated May 28, 1982. Its number is
X3H33. By the way, I got my spec. for free from INTEL.
At least that's the way I see it,
