I have just recently received an AT&T 7300 UNIX PC to play with. The system isn't too bad, though it runs a bit slowly at times. However, the internal modem doesn't appear to work. My AT&T rep does not know what the problem is. However, he has had one for some time and has never managed to make the modem on his work. He thinks that the modem is incompatible with standard Bell modems. (AT&T, the "communications company" strikes again!) I would hope this isn't so, since it apparently isn't compatible with Racal-Vadic modems either. Soooo, has anyone else out there ever managed to make the internal modem work? Here are my symptoms: 7300 dials Answering system picks up, gives me carrier 7300 sits there, goes into terminal mode, but does not answer the carrier. I've got it set for a data line, the profile is set (I assume) properly, etc. Thanks in Advance ================== David L. I've had a 7300 for several weeks have made extensive use of the internal modem with no problems. People can dial in on this modem or they can dial out. Connections are made and seem very stable. I would suspect a hardware fault, in your case, not design incompatibility. -- Harold Bamford AT&T Bell Labs Naperville, Ill (cornet) 8-367-5744 (312) 979-5744 (work)
