My 6300 recently went on the blink in a rather peculiar fashion. I wondering if anyone out there has had a similar experience, and direct my efforts. The machine was executing my autoexec.bat file, when all of a sudden, the speaker started to put out a high-pitched, continuous tone. I hit CNTL-ALT-DELin a hope that would solve the problem; instead, all I got (and still get) is snow on the screen. But note that the machine was presumably sane enough to recognize this sequence, since it's a software reset. Presumably something on the motherboard is hosed; it never passes the power-up. My first thought was that the ROM chip somehow broke. Is that likely??? Any thoughts would bew greatly appreciated, since turning over the machine to a repair shop is not something I particularly relish (but, does anyone have any experience with a repair shop they would like to recommend in the Holmdel - Metuchen area???) Thanx. Ihor Kinal hru3c!ijk 949-9810
