I just had my local dealer change the 64k chips on my expansion card to 256k's, making it 2M, and WOW, what a difference. The most noticable thing is the lack of swapping when switching windows. For instance, if you've got several full screen shells, with 1M you swap hitting the resume button, and swap again when you select the next window. With 2+M there is no swapping, which is downright decent. They charged $800 to do it, or about 1/2 the cost of the (unavailable?) AT&T 2M card. Do it, it's worth every cent. The "AT&T UNIX PC Model 7300 Service Manual" (order # 582-602-030IS) is a complete and total waste. For $160 you get about 8 pages of skimpy overview and NO SCHEMATICS. Do not buy it -- I feel ripped off. -dB -- {amdahl|dual|sun|zehntel}\ | {ucbvax|decvax}!mtxinu---->!rtech!daveb | "Something can always go wrong" ihnp4!{phoenix|amdahl}___/ |

Maybe someday a more complete version will come out or they will charge the $10 the manual is worth. Name........: Donald F.
