[net.micro.att] rumors

well folks, the response i got so far was *not* what i expected.

*	PFUI! (as Nero Wolfe would say) It is fascinating to read what other
*	people surmise about our products. (The 7300 is the 3B1!) What is
*	the "other" product you have heard of?

*	Chris Edmonds @ AT&T Something-or-Other, Naperville, IL ...!ihnp4!ihlpl!chrise

nd . . .

*	I do not expect any new personal computers or workstations from AT&T
*in the rest of this calendar year, and perhaps longer. I have more concrete
*information than this, but I am bound by a non-disclosure agreement. AT&T
*seems to be hoping that the 6300 family and the 3B family will be enough for
*a while. Meanwhile several new machines are being explored. None are certain
*that they will become products (this includes in-house and other developement).
*

well, folks, chris seems to think that the 3b1 and the 7300 are the
same, but if they are, why the proce diffrence?( you may also ask, why
the diffrent names, but i understand att already markets identical
things under the AT&T logo and the TELETYPE logo, with diffrent names.
before anyone screams, i refer to terminals, the 56X0, i believe.)

but allow me to quote a quoteable source for all of you to ponder:
[reprinted from UNIX REVIEW, without permission, pg 20, col 3]

Meanwhile, Counterpoint Computers . . . announced on March 10 its
System 19 line of UNIX workstations. [...] - Counterpoint products
will be sold to OEMs, VARs, and very large end users. One of the
companies with which Counterpoint is doing business is AT&T, one of
Counterpoints minority investors. AT&T will market the startup's
products [the following is not *my* comment, it is from the magazine]
(yes, Virginia, AT&T is in the UNIX workstation market). . .

there ya go folks. more fuel for the home fires. Chris, here is
another product i have heard of, did you know about it before now?
and if you did, did you read it in the same place i did?
