I assumed Anne was being realistic in that legends almost never have all
the facts straight.

I don't think that the "Ballad of Moreta's Ride" would get that
distorted.  The Harpers are too competent to allow that to happen.
It must have either been written on purpose with the incorrect
ending, or changed on purpose sometime in the many turns between
Moreta and Dragonsinger.

[ Of course, it could be that when she decided to write a book about
Moreta, she found that the ending in the song was not a good way to
end the book, and so changed it. ]

Did anyone else notice that there was homosexuality in Moreta not 
related to horny dragons?  If so, do you think it is because 1).  
society might have been more permissive in Moreta's day, 2.) 
society is more permissive now, so she felt she could stick it in 
without getting banned in the South :-), 3.) she wanted a little 
variety.
