Does anyone know if honey danber uucp can be made to work with the PC 7300 internal modem? If so, how? Thanks. Dan Lorenzini Philips Laboratories {ihnp4, seismo, decvax, allegra}!philabs!dal

Yes it can, but you need source code access to HDB. There is no way to put it into Dialers. Sorry. -- Jonathan Clark [NAC,attmail]!mtune!jhc My walk has become rather more silly lately.

HDB uucp is something else that's available for the UNIX PC from THE STORE. I'm running HDB on my UNIX PC right now, with my only modem being the internal modem. In fact, there are * 3 * of us that I know of here in NC running HDB on UNIX PCs. HDB solved a problem I was having, by the way, that you may or may not be aware of: The UNIX PC, during uucp handshaking, sends and receives only * 6 * characters of its name, whereas other UNIX machines (e.g., 3B2s) send and receive * 8 *. My sitename (bakerst) is 7 characters. I didn't have any trouble talking to other UNIX PCs, but as soon as I tried to talk to a friend's 3B2, I ran into problems. HDB took care of it - and I got to keep my sitename. I understand HDB will be available with the next release of UNIX - for the UNIX PCs, anyway, and I assume for everyone else. For more info about THE STORE, send mail to: Fred Hicinbothem, alias THE STORE!keeper ..... ihnp4!mtuxn!4341fah I'm sure he'd love to hear from you. He's been gathering support letters to give to his product management.
