[net.micro.att] AT&T 7300 & 3b1 poor hardward support for a good system

dpw@rayssd.UUCP (Darryl P. Wagoner) (08/15/86)

I have had a 7300 for about 3 months now. I am very happy with it
except for the hardward problems that seem to monitor related.

Here is the run down of the problems.

	a. They took more than a month to get any action and
it has been about 6-7 weeks with the same problem.
	b. The close out their tickets on my problem twice
without me seeing or talking to a tech.
	c. The haven't it fixed yet!
	d. One of the times when swapped the system board they downgraded
the system to a 0.5 meg. It Run Slow with 0.5 meg.
	e. They told me they were waiting on parts and when they came
all they did were to make a adjustment. Which didn't fixed it.

The software is great, except for a few exceptions. Some of which are
listed below. I was very surprized and please with the shared library.
Small programs are not much larger than shell scripts. Every little bit help
when you only have 20 Meg disk drive. Ksh is also included as part of the
Unix Utility. The ksh is much better than the csh. I would recommend
the ksh for any site running Unix. David Korn did himself proud!

The software problems are few and far between. The phone line hangs about
onces a week. I understand this will be fixed in 3.5. "C" and preprocessor
doesn't have flex names. This too is reported to be included in 3.5.
