AT&T has announced "Remote File Sharing", which allows administrators
of systems running UNIX System V Release 3 to make directory subtrees
available to other systems on a network (advertise) and allows other
administrators to mount those resources onto their local file tree.
Unlike NFS, the true semantics of the UNIX System filesystem are
maintained, including file and record locking.

A paper was published Summer 1986 Usenix Conference in Atlanta, GA.
It is entitled, "RFS Architectural Overview" by Andrew P. Rifken et al.
It is found on page 248 of the proceedings, which are available from
USENIX Association, P.O. Box 7, El Cerrito, CA 94530 USA. The cost
is $25 (U.S.) plus $25 for overseas mail.

At the same conference, AT&T sponsored an "RFS Technical Overview"
seminar. Several technical papers and copies of the slides were
made available at the seminar. You might be able to get a copy of
that material from your AT&T account rep (in Germany, try:
	AT&T International
	Justinianstrasse 22
	Am Holzhausenpark
	6000 Frankfurt an Main 1
Phone:	011-49-69-59-6030

)

Good luck.
