I'm having trouble getting a printer to work on the unix pc printer port. The printer is actually a serial printer, run through a parallel-to-serial converter. I've verified that the printer and converter work. At this point, I can't tell if I have a software or hardware problem. A file sent to the printer vanishes from the queue immediately. Trying to cat file >/dev/lp produces a "/bin/ksh: /dev/lp: cannot create" Can anyone suggest what might be wrong? I'm not confident that the cabling is right for the converter, so that might be part of the problem. Can anyone provide me with the pinout of the unix pc line printer port? Thanks. /Gary Internet: grebus@lando.dec.com USENET: decwrl!dec-rhea!dec-lando!grebus (work) ihnp4!chinet!balrog!glg (home) Voice: 617-486-6802 "The information expressed herein is my own opinion.
