[pe.cust.general] Word Processing on P-E

Let's talk text editors. How do EMACS and the Rand Editor
stack up against good (?) ole vi? I hear tell the Rand Editor
is public domain. How would I go about getting a copy? What's
the word on word processing on P-E? I've read about Quadratron,
but I prefer something I can get source to. What say ye gurus?
Use cat(1)?

P-E markets something called Lex-32 for word processing.
I don't know anything more about it, but you could talk
to your sales rep.

As for editors, I use qed everywhere (PE and any other
UNIX machine I'm using). It's a superset of good old "ed"
with multiple buffers and everything else you could ever
ask for. I got it running on our 3220 with no problem.
Yep, it's a line editor, but - at 1200 baud or slower,
a screen editor is too slow anyway, and at high speed
you can get the system to blast the current page onto
the screen in no time anyway, with about 2 keystrokes.
Doesn't put anywhere near the load on the system that
vi does, too.
