X lsuc!dave asked about his P-E running slow. Indeed it is because of missing some clock interrupts. On the P-E under Edition 7, all hardware interrupts have basically the same priority. This will presumedly be changed (fixed?) in Xelos. Our solution was to buy a $189 Hayes Chronograph and put it on the other RS-232 line coming from the 2-line commux that runs the console. (If your machine is configured anything like ours, that other line is basically useless because it's impossible to get to, anyway) And have /etc/rc read the clock when the machine boots. Take heed, I wouldn't put it into the crontab to reset itself automagically, because /etc/cron could get confused and start some things twice, or not at all, especially if the clock is very far out. I'm not in Dallas this week, so I've got to do something, -- Brent Laminack (pesnta!itm!brent)

How is it hard to get to? We use the 2nd line for a printer (yeah, RS-232 connection, but it's good enough for us). We have 34 ports on our 3220, and the 2 lines for the console & printer and just as accessible on the other 32.
