[pe.cust.general] P-E unix site list

steve@lpi3230.UUCP (Steve Burbeck) (03/19/85)

What follows is the list (as of 3/18/85) of P-E unix sites. I have added
several sites in the last two weeks, but new information has slowed to a
trickle so I am posting it. One caution: some of this information may be
out of date or just plain wrong.

When The Wollongong Group sold the rights to Edition VII to P-E, (about
a year and a half ago) there were over 100 licensees. Since then, P-E must
have sold several dozen more machines with unix. That means that the
following list covers no more than a quarter of the P-E sites. I have
attempted, through both P-E and Interchange to obtain a more complete list.
No luck yet.

But the good news is that the list already contains sites with a wide
range of applications, experience and expertise. It's a good start.
Lets keep our eyes and ears open for other sites. In the mean time,
this list ought to keep everyone from feeling too lonely.

We run 4.2bsd (without auto-config or paging,
neither is really feasible on PE). The system
that Berkeley has on their 3230 they got from us.
We have source, but not from PE - our sources
predate the code that PE got. (Of course, we
have done a lot to it since then). The system
won't run on 3220's (must have a MAT) but is very
fast on other PE machines. Its not available (at
