The Interchange meeting is open to all P-E users, the majority of which are using P-E's OS/32 operating system, however the number of UNIX users attending has been growing rapidly in the last two years. I have found the meetings to be quite useful. I have attended two USENIX meetings in the past (Toronto and Boston) and will be attending the next one in Portland. The USENIX conferences are excellant sources of information on UNIX in general, however a large majority of those attending run on 4.2BSD, so alot of what is said is not directly usable to me. Also, for we binary licensees, mods to the source code cannot be made, we can only lobby with P-E. Which brings us to the Interchange meeting. This meeting is really the only way users have to interact directly with the P-E development people and make known to them your wishes and complaints. The Interchange meeting is also much smaller than USENIX (~300 total in 85) and, I think, allows for better contact between users. Enough of the selling job. I will be posting a tentative outline for the next Interchange 86 meeting in a few weeks, you can decide if you want to go. One final note. As I mentioned above I will be attending the USENIX conference in Portland in June. Is anyone else going? If so, we should try to get together some time or, if there are enough, I will try to arrange a BOF. -- Carl Swail Mail: National Research Council of Canada Building U-66, Montreal Road Ottawa, Ontario, Canada K1A 0R6 Phone: (613) 998-3408 USENET: {pesnta, lsuc}!nrcaero!carl {cornell,uw-beaver}!utcsrgv!dciem!nrcaero!carl {allegra,decvax,duke,floyd,ihnp4,linus}!utzoo!dciem!nrcaero!carl
