[net.music.gdead] mars hotel

cower@columbia.UUCP (Rich Cower) (04/12/85)

Mars Hotel is available on the double album with Wake of the Flood.
If the person who wants it sends me a note, I'll tell them the
company, etc. that did the pressing (I don't have the album here).
Tower Records here in New York has (had it a couple of weeks ago)
in the import section (I think that is where I saw it). I have not
listened to it and cannot comment on the quality of the pressing.

Sally,

The mail re Mars Hotel got returned - so here it is.
The album was pressed in England by EMI Records, EMI House, 20 Manchester
Sq., London, England W1a1es. The jacket says United Artists on it, the
reference number for it is UDM 103/4 (indcating two records are inside).
The jacket artwork is the same as on the orginal Wake and Mars albums. I
listened to a bit of it today and it sounds fine.

I'm not sure how these people got rights to make these records - the
originals were done by Grateful Dead records. These new records say Grateful
Dead records 1974 and have a very small reference to Warner Brothers
printed on them. They are different in appearance from the orginals in
a number of ways.

Good luck in finding them...Rich Cower
