Don't kid yourself about the Bay Area. Last year at the 1st Greek show (the Dark Star one) they grabbed a guy about two rows in back of me for smoking what appeared to be dope. The cops were wandering around before the show looking for people to grab. The second day they grabbed someone on the street in front of the Greek after chasing him for a block or two, the rumor was he was selling small quantities of some type of natural psychedelic. If you're using drugs at Berkeley - be discreet. I lived in the Bay Area since 1964 and have only seen this type of behavior once before at a Dead show (at the Fillmore in 66, where they came into the head - and it is not a story for this forum). Anyway - see you at Berkeley! ..rich

The Berkeley City Police are very good. In fact, a measure was passed 7-8 years ago which gave ~~0 priority to dope busts inthe City. Basically you have to be seen with afew pounds before you even get questioned by a Berkeley city officer. Oakland police enjoy a decent track record toward dead heads but they have a nasty racial policy. If you are black and on the strret in Oakland, you are going to get hasseled for sure. Anyway, see you at Berkeley! David
