[net.music.gdead] Sacremento Shows

malnar@ssc-vax.UUCP (Nine Mile Skid) (04/26/85)

The Dead are playing in Sacremento on June 8th & 9th, Saturday and
Sunday. They will be at CAL-EXPO as last year. Apparently the free
show rumored for that weekend fell through. Call hotline for phone
number, I don't have that info right now. Apparently this went onto
the hotline Thursday the 25th.

I also heard that the boys have been practicing St. Stephen,
High-heeled Sneakers (is that the right name?? Don't know it offhand.
Have they done it before?), The Golden Road, and ALL of Cryptical
Envelopment! Plus other assorted goodies. Should be some HOT shows
coming up! See ya there!

The practice rumors seem to ring true. I have it from a very good source
that songs that were practiced include:

Box of Rain (Phil singing, of course)
Comes A Time
He Was a Friend of Mine
Attics of My Life
Unbroken Chain (Phil again)
Doing That Rag
Golden Road...
I Heard it Through The Grapevine (for Marvin Gaye)
Hog Wild Over You
Jumping Jack flash (obviously Bobby)
High Heeled Sneekers
That's It For The Other One (Crypt. Env. is the what is currently referred to
  as The Other 1)

It seems that the boys are getting ready for their Twentieth in a big way.
Even if they arent intending to play all of this for audiences, it is nice
that they still play it for themselves. I have been praying for (Box of) Rain
for a long time. Any of these songs would be more than welcome. If they do
a That's it For The Other One I hope they don't cut it short like they did the
two recent Crazy Fingers. It deserves to be propperly re-explored (so do
most of these songs). Here is to Ugly Rumors...
