Just got back from 2 great shows. First the songs, then I'll talk for a bit. Thu. 6/27/85 SPAC, Saratoga, NY I II In The Midnight Hour Feel Like A Stranger -> Bertha -> Eyes of the World -> Little Red Rooster Goin' down the road -> Stagger Lee Women are Smarter -> El Paso Drums->Space-> Crazy Fingers -> Truckin' -> Jam -> Spoonful -> High Times Black Peter -> Hell In a Bucket Lovelight Don't Ease Me In Encore: Johnny B. Goode -> It's All Over Now, Baby Blue Fri. 6/28/85 Hershey Park, Pa. I II Cold Rain & Snow The Music Never Stopped Promised Land Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues Ramble On Rose Estimated Prophet -> Jam -> Ain't Superstitious/Down on Terrapin Station -> the Bottom Drums -> Space -> Birdsong -> I Need A Miracle -> Comes A Time Morning Dew -> Deal Throwing Stones -> Not Fade Away Encore: Dayjob These 2 shows were great!! I was really psyched for SPAC and wasn't let down for the briefest instant. About an hour before the show, someone started a great marshmellow war. There must have been thousands of them flying around. Everyone had a great time with that. After Little Red Rooster, the band stopped playing and Bob & Phil started to rap with the crowd about hanging off the balcony (apparently someone fell). Then they did the 'My dog has no nose' joke and went right into Stagger Lee. (When was the last joke the band did?) All the songs were performed flawlessly, I can't pick any highlights out right now. Just get a tape if you can. Friday was a good show but I arrived late and didn't come in until Superstitious/Bottom so I'm not really sure they did both. They definitely sang Down on The Bottom. The second set was great and it stopped raining (finally) during Terrapin. Before 2nd set, Bobby came out to say something but Dan Healy turned on the echo and all we heard was a random mixture of vocals, which everyone really enjoyed anyway. I think he said something about the band getting wet, too, their overhang had some leaks in it which resulted in several splashes off the cymbals. I was happy to hear Jerry's voice sounding good again after the Philly shows and the band's spirit is definitely at a high point. BTW, Jerry wore red both nights, but had a sports jacket on in Hershey. The only hassle was the traffic from NY to Pa. When it got really slow, people walked around on the highway and talked to other D'Heads to kill time. That's about it for now. I'm off to MD for 2 great shows! "They're a band beyond description...." -Dan Dasaro
