Just found an article on page 8c of today's san jose mercury news :
sounds like donner lake is a great and mellow place to relax.
However, those of us who are intending to camp there ($6 per night
in the park), the mosquitos like it too.  So the wise advice is
to bring large quantities of insect repellent to prevent the beasts
from joining your party.~r

I'll type in some relevant paragraphs (about rooms and such) if someone
asks me to.
