[net.music.gdead] Red Rocks NetHead gathering

jon@boulder.UUCP (Jonathan Corbet) (08/28/85)

[]

Well, there was a subdued but definate response to my offer to host
a gathering of netheads after one of the Red Rocks shows, so I am going to
do it. It will start after the Thursday show, as soon as people show up.
I can provide some munchies and Microburst Brewery Homebrew; other party
materials should be brought since I have changed my ways and can't provide
them...
Unfortunately for me, there are only two people who can babysit my
VAX, and the other one is a deadhead too and will be there, so I will miss
the weekday shows. Thus, I can't meet people at the show, but I can provide
directions from the Rocks, and I have done so below.

	Hope to see you there!

Contained herein are directions from Red Rocks to my abode in Boulder. But
before delving into the gory details, here is the address:

                3214 Cripple Creek Trail
                Boulder, CO
                (303) 499-9072

OK, chances are that when the concert is over, you will be herded out one
of the northern entrances to Red Rocks. From either of the two north entrances,
you want to turn left, uphill, towards I-70. Follow the road up to the top of
a hill, at which point you will pass underneath I-70 -- Do not get on the
interstate. As the road heads downhill, it magically becomes US-40. Follow
40 for about a mile, until it once again becomes a divided road. As soon
as that concrete median appears, take a left turn. You should at this
point be looking at a huge sign that says "Heritage Square." After turning
Ljft, immediately turn right, onto a road that parallels 40 for a short while.
You will follow this little road (CO-93) for about a mile, turning left on
US-6 at the first traffic light.

Follow US-6 along the west edge of Golden, through one traffic light. Just
after the light, it will squeeze from four lanes into two, and roughly .5
mile after that, you want to take the (poorly illuminated) right turn
onto CO-58 (I think it's 58, I KNOW it is 5n). If you find yourself heading
up a mountain canyon, you went too far.

You will only follow 58 for about 0.5 mile, taking the first exit. Turn left
at the light at the top of the exit ramp. You are now on CO-93, which will
take you into Boulder. I recommend that you observe the 30mph speed limit
while you are on Golden.

Follow 93 to Boulder (it's about 15 miles, as I remember). If you brought
your lead lined suits, I suggest you wear them while driving past the Rocky
Flats nuclear bomb plant.

Once in Boulder, you will want to turn left on Greenbriar street, which is
the first traffic light you will see after leaving Golden. Follow Greenbriar
for 1+ miles until it turns north, right at the base of the foothills. Just
after Greenbriar turns north, turn right on Redstone. Park your car, and
join the party! Use the map below to find my unit:
